The end of a very exciting year approaches. Here at Trifacta, the year encompassed a number of significant milestones, including the launch of V3 of Trifacta Wrangler Enterprise, the unveiling of the free desktop version of our product, Trifacta Wrangler, and the launch of operations in Europe with the opening of offices in London and Berlin.
With the launch of Trifacta v3, our team authored a trio of blog articles, with VP of Products Wei Zheng describing how V3 bridges user empowerment with enterprise data governance; User Experience Manager Phil Vander Broek describing how V3 is empowering data analysts, and Director of Product Management Sean Ma outlining the application’s robust data governance capabilities.
Trifacta Wrangler came onto the scene on October 19, with the exciting launch of the free desktop version of our software. You can read more about how Trifacta is bringing data wrangling to the people in the blog post authored by Trifacta Principal Product Manager Alon Bartur. Better yet, you can experience first hand by signing up for Trifacta Wrangler today!
One of the most rewarding parts of the year is seeing the great success of Trifacta customers who are embracing data wrangling to unlock the value within their data. Two of these customers, GoPro and PepsiCo, shared their stories presenting at Strata San Jose and Strata New York. In San Jose, Josh Byrd, manager of data architecture at GoPro, and Darren Chinen, head of data science and engineering at GoPro, presented how they architected their data infrastructure and analytics environment to empower their data analysts, allowing them to become the big data heroes of extreme sports. And in New York, PepsiCo CPFR Analyst, Matt Derda, demonstrated how Pepsi is using data wrangling to make sense of the disparate information sent in by the scores or even hundreds of companies in their supplier networks. We also had the opportunity to share how the Royal Bank of Scotland is using Trifacta to wrangle their customer interaction data in order improve the customer service they are able to provide to their customers.
In addition to great customer presentations, our co-founders were also busy throughout the year on the speaking circuit; with Joe Hellerstein giving a talk on metadata, and Jeffrey Heer teaming up with Tableau’s Jock Mackinlay to talk data visualization. And speaking of our co-founders, renowned digital storyteller Sharad Khare interviewed our three co-founders, Joe, Jeff and Sean, to tell the story of how academia can become a very great part of entrepreneurship.
Taking a page from Sharad’s book, we created a number of videos to give viewers an inside look at the Trifacta team, and the launch of Trifacta Wrangler, as well as an overview video showing you just how data wrangling works.
We are truly honored to have been recognized throughout the year for the work we are doing to drive customers’ innovation with data. We are very proud to have earned the highest ranking among 26 vendors in the Dresner Advisory Services first End User Data Preparation Study, to be named 2015 Ventana Research Technology Innovation award winner and to be named a Dresner Advisory Services’ Technology Innovation Award Winner for End User Data Preparation. We were also selected as a 2015 Red Herring Top 100 North America Winner, recognized by Forbes as one of the best big data and business analytics companies to work for in 2015, and named to the The Channel Company’s 2015 CRN® Big Data 100, and 2015 CRN® Emerging Vendors List.
Our busy year has taken us all over the world, with stops in Amsterdam, Austin, Chicago, London, New York, Paris and Stockholm, just to name a few. However, plenty of activities were bustling right here at home in our San Francisco HQ. One such activity is our fireside chat series where we have been fortunate to host great entrepreneurial leaders in the big data and analytics space, including Tableau co-founder Pat Hanrahan, Cloudera co-founder Amr Awadallah, Survey Monkey President & CTO Selina Tobaccowala, Fast Foward Labs founder Hillary Mason, and Cloudera CEO Tom Reilly. We thank each of our esteemed guests for taking time to meet with the Trifacta team and share with us their experiences and wisdom.
We’ve also had plenty of fun outside of our regular working day, from finding time for charitable causes, such as our regular volunteer outing to the San Francisco-Marin Food Bank, hosting the DataKind San Francisco event (blogged by Trifacta Software Engineer Jesika Haria and covered by online publication Network World) and participating in our Toy and Food drives. And with an eye on health, the team participated in events such as the JP Morgan Corporate Challenge. (And then we even wrangled the results data to analyze team composition for next year’s race!)
2015 has been a tremendous year and it is truly an honor to work with the incredible people who make up the entire Trifacta family, including our employees, our customers and our partners. We look forward to an equally exciting 2016, as we continue to work with our customers and our partners to transform the way the world works with data! On behalf of the entire Trifacta team, we wish you a very happy holiday season!
