New Features in Trifacta Wrangler

March 3, 2016

Today we are excited to introduce to you a new round of updates to Trifacta Wrangler! One of the benefits of our hybrid architecture is that it can deploy automatic software updates.

Here are some highlights of the new features you’ll be able to experience the next time you open Wrangler.

Reuse your transformations on new data with the ability to swap your data while wrangling

1.) Click the dataset drop down menu

2.) Click the datasource

3.) Choose new datasource and click ‘Select’

A new union tool that enables concatenation of multiple datasets

1. Open the dataset on which you want to perform the union operation.

2. From the left hand side of the Transform Editor, click on the Tools icon to expand the tools menu. Click on Union to open the union tool.

3. Click Add datasets.

4. Select the dataset that you want to union with the current dataset.

5. Click ‘Add to Script’.

Columns are matched according to column names or by position order. Additionally, each group of columns includes a mini-histogram of top values contained within the columns, the output column histogram shows the aggregate values of all datasets.

In addition to improvements to UI performance and overall user experience, the new update also supports hashtags (#) and mentions (@) as patterns. For a complete list of the new features in Wrangler, including the step-by-step guides seen above, read our articles on the Trifacta Community.

We believe that wrangling is as crucial to the data analysis process as the final result – which is why we hope these updates will make your data wrangling experience even more productive and intuitive. Feel free to reach out to us at Happy wrangling!
