Google Next ‘21 brought big changes and ideas to the data analytics world. Google Cloud’s annual conference always promises to share the latest and greatest about the Google Cloud Platform, and this year the conference delivered with BigQuery Omni GA, Dataplex GA and Trifacta’s Google Cloud Dataprep success.
For the second year in a row, the event was digital with a great mix of live sessions, on-demand sessions, hands-on labs, and community demos – all gathered into a live hub where we got to select sessions of interest and engage with each other. And what a lineup! There was almost too much to watch, so here is a quick recap of everything you need to know about data engineering for Data Analytics and how it relates to Trifacta.
Product Announcements & Sessions
During his session, Sudhir Hasbe, director of product management for data analytics, reinforced Google Cloud’s data strategic goals to break down silos, enable predictive analytics, and democratize data insights. These driving principles translated into two major announcements with the General Availability for BigQuery Omni, which offers cross SQL access to AWS & Azure, and Dataplex, which provides an intelligent data fabric to design, automate, and deliver the power of analytics to everyone. Trifacta is thrilled about these innovations and the role Dataprep by Trifacta can play to facilitate cross data-source consistency and data democratization, which help fulfill the promise of Google Cloud.
“Trifacta’s data prep capabilities are helping customers process trillions of rows of data, efficiently and cost-effectively,” said Sudhir Hasbe, Director of Product Management, Data Analytics at Google Cloud. “We’re thrilled to deepen our partnership with Trifacta to further extend its support for Google Cloud and BigQuery, including launching new ELT capabilities and accelerating their time to value with data.”

In news related to BigQuery’s product update, Trifacta announced record customer growth with more than 500 customers adopting Dataprep ELT BigQuery pushdown features and processing over 10 trillion rows of data in the last six months!
To reveal BigQuery and Dataprep new capabilities, Vijay Balasubramaniam, Director Partner Solutions Architect at Trifacta delivered a presentation to showcase how Dataprep leverages BigQuery latest advancements.

Accelerating Customer’s Data Engineering Journey
During Next, Thomas Kurian, CEO, Google Cloud announced extended partnerships with numerous customers such as Grupo Globo, General Mills, Carrefour, Whirlpool Corporation, or TELUS, all leveraging Dataprep by Trifacta to accelerate their cloud transformation.
Google Cloud and Trifacta also announced how customers maximize Cloud Data Engineering benefits and increase revenue with new Dataprep accelerators. To celebrate this success, Google Cloud’s head of data analytics, Bruno Aziza, interviewed PDPAOLA about their data strategy to optimize their e-commerce jewelry business return on advertising which helped them double their revenues.
