Today, our partner Databricks announced their GA launch on Google Cloud. We are very excited to have Databricks join Dataprep by Trifacta on Google Cloud Platform Marketplace. This new service will provide a simple, open lakehouse platform for data engineering, data science, analytics, and machine learning with tight integrations to Google Cloud’s analytics solutions. For those of you unfamiliar with the term “lakehouse,” it is a combination of the elements of both a data lake and a traditional data warehouse and can simplify a multiple-system setup that includes a data lake, several data warehouses, and other specialized systems.
Last month we announced our formal partnership with Databricks during the inaugural Wrangle Summit 2021. During the Summit, Databricks Co-Founder & Chief Technologist, Matei Zaharia presented the session Lakehouse: A New Generation of Open Platforms for Data Warehousing and AI. In the session, Matei described how thousands of organizations are now using lakehouse technology to replace separate data lake, warehouse, and streaming systems and deliver high-quality data faster internally. He discussed key trends and recent advances in the industry based on experience with Delta Lake, the most widely used open source lakehouse platform, which was developed at Databricks. You can view Matei’s session here.
What does Databricks on Google Cloud mean for Trifacta Customers?
Our Trifacta customers are building modern data architectures to drive real business impact in more efficient and cost effective ways. Enterprises can now implement the Databricks Lakehouse Platform on Google Cloud — made possible by Delta Lake on Databricks. Delta Lake on Databricks provides a modern foundation to transition from expensive, hard-to-scale on-premises systems to well-architected Google Cloud Storage–based data lakes.
Across the board, we are seeing a majority of our customers that also have a multi-cloud strategy. The multi-cloud capability of Databricks allows customers to increase the efficiency and productivity of data processes, improve customer experiences, and create new revenue opportunities even when data is distributed across more than one cloud. Additionally, a cloud or multi-cloud strategy significantly reduces infrastructure cost within an organization.
Now, more than ever, there is more data available, it comes fast and needs to be integrated into the cloud. Data engineers are seeking out more agile and flexible options that prepare and move data into the hands of business users faster, this is where Trifacta comes in. Trifacta natively integrates with the Databricks Lakehouse Platform. Together, Databricks and Trifacta can help organizations with some of the most innovative use cases on Google Cloud such as retail, telco, media and entertainment, manufacturing, and financial services. Across every industry, data is driving digital transformation initiatives. With modern architecture, Google Cloud customers are finding new ways to accelerate data-driven innovation. Today it’s easy to get started for free with both Databricks and Dataprep by Trifacta on the Google Cloud Marketplace.
