Job Description

About Us

At Trifacta, we’re building a product for a growing group of users with a very real pain: transforming data. This activity traditionally requires significant time and effort. But at Trifacta, we believe that transforming data shouldn’t be painful and that human-centered design is particularly well suited to creating simple, intuitive, and enjoyable solutions. This is a lofty goal in a space historically devoid of usable products.

As designers, we recognize the value of tools that empower and inspire us in our everyday work. Our mission is to provide modern data workers with superior tools that make their jobs easier and more enjoyable. To deliver on this promise, we regularly tackle big challenges: How can we build modern data tools for a variety of users in different contexts? How can we support analysts in the shift from spreadsheets to the complexity of big data? How can we give users the ability to understand the impact of their work across data, projects and organizations?

We are looking for a Product Designer to help us tackle these challenges while working closely with our lead designer on the Growth Team. You will participate from beginning to end of product building, from generating new ideas to crafting detailed microinteractions. Come and be a part of our passionate, talented, and diverse team where collaboration and mutual respect are baked into the culture.

What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)

  • You will pair closely with a lead designer to improve core product features and design new ones. This is a great opportunity to learn from an experienced designer while having the autonomy to lead projects and have an impact.
  • You’ll focus on interface and interaction design, from user flows to visual details, embracing design iterations and prototypes. Through this process, we’d rather you show than tell.
  • You will work closely with other Growth Team members to understand user needs and requirements.
  • You will work closely with engineers to understand technical considerations and implement designs down to the last detail. We want your work to be implemented and shipped.
  • You will help us hone our design team approaches, including contributing to our design system.
  • Our team deeply values collaboration. You will work with other designers in a friendly, open, and direct environment. We want to learn from you, too!

A bit about You (Requirements)

  • You’ve completed an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Design, HCI or related field.
  • You have an online portfolio demonstrating your interaction and interface design projects (school projects are acceptable).
  • You’re interested in data problems and the users who face them. (We are creating a data product, so this interest is essential!)
  • You have a good understanding of current web design best practices and patterns. You should have a solid understanding of HTML/CSS and a basic understanding of JS.

A bit about Us

  • Competitive salary and equity in a fast-growing start-up.
  • Comprehensive health and dental insurance for employees and their dependents.
  • Paid maternity and paternity leave to let our new parents spend valuable time with their loved ones.
  • Unlimited vacation policy so employees can take time off as needed.
  • Annual continuing-education stipend for each employee to use for conferences, workshops, memberships, etc.
  • Lots of opportunity to learn through skills exchanges, hack weeks, and guest lecturers.

**Please include a URL for an online portfolio in addition to your resume. Submissions without a portfolio will not be considered.**

Our team strives to set a new bar for SAAS based products with modern, well-designed, real-time apps. We have recently raised our Series-E funding of $100 million. Our product is highly differentiated and has a very strong unique value proposition. Our product is OEMed by google for a first class service on GCP ( as well as IBM for Watson Platform (their AI and Data platform).

We operate with a trust based culture with strong independence and autonomy to teams. We don't operate under artificial deadlines and give freedom to every engineer to do engineering in the right way. We operate as a single team and display great teamwork. We believe in creating the impact through our work. We offer a learning environment with exposure to a broad range of engineering problem statements and a collaborative setup to solve them well.
